Melbourne Frock Swap at Seaworks, Williamstown

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Melbourne is said to be the fashion capital of Australia, and that can also be said for recycled fashion too. We are blessed with plentiful vintage and secondhand fashion markets, with a number of events scattered throughout our fine city.

Melbourne Frock Swap is one of the newest market's on the recycled fashion scene, positioned at Seaworks, a historic boat shed located on the waters edge of Williamstown.

When two sisters, Nicole and Rachael, searched for an appropriate venue to hold Melbourne Frock Swap, Seaworks in Williamstown ticked lots of boxes; its size and location appealing most.

With space for over 40 stallholders, Melbourne Frock Swap at Seaworks' indoor boat shed currently operates 4 times a year in rain, hail or shine. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to last market last Melbourne Frock Swap market held on 1 June 2014 although Nicole and Rachael report back with positive news of the day's success:

"Erica! It was amazing! We had the best day and the feedback has been so wonderful, all positive. It rained - all day (grr) but even with the rain, it was a really good turn out and we are so, so happy with how everything went"

"We are all really excited about the September market. It will be spring, it's a fortnight before Spring Carnival opens and we are going to tie it all in with that" Nicole and Rachael, Melbourne Frock Swap.

The next Melbourne Frock Swap will take place on 14 September 2014, open from 10am to 4pm with $2 entry. Check out Melbourne Frock Swap on Facebook for more information.

Maybe I'll see you there...

Sadly I couldn't find anything like this wonderful event in Brisbane. I'd be interested to find out how a frock swap on this scale works. x

I can only say ditto to Desiree, it would be even harder to find something like this happening on the Gold Coast.

Yay - thank you for highlighting this - I hadn't heard of it but have now tucked it into the calendar for September.
