Thrift Store Runway Contest

Saturday, June 16, 2012

American thrifters, take note!  The Templeton Press has put together a project called Thrift Store Runway (, a monthly contest that encourages the idea of thrift fashion.

Contestants submit looks to the online monthly competition, and five $100 prizes are given away every month for the best judged submissions.
"This contest is a part of the movement to Bring Back National Thrift Week, which used to be a vibrant celebration of the virtue of thrift in America. From the early part of the twentieth century on up through the 1960s, Thrift Week events flourished from coast to coast .

So now we’re gathering local and national sponsors to try to revive this lost tradition and, ultimately, the idea of thrift itself. While we work behind the scenes on those efforts, we hope you’ll have some fun with this contest and help us remind people how fashionable thrift can be!"

To submit your look, take a picture of your best $50 thrift store outfit, including a list of each item in your outfit and what it cost, click here to find the submission form. For the full rules of the contest, click here.  If you do decide to take part, good luck!
