Designers transform op-shop finds. Sunrise TV segment

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

A snippet from Morning Sunrise, thanks to Op Shop Diva for sharing on her facebook page.

Marie Claire magazine asked six designer names including Sass & Bide to create an outfit only using items from Vinnies op shops. Outfits were created including a fabulous suit made from a striped curtain.

Their designs, using recycled garments and materials, are available to buy on eBay until 13 August, with proceeds going to the St Vincent de Paul Society.

This is a great concept, and hopefully inspiring to others. Who knows, maybe we'll see more designers choosing thrift material to create new collections?

A coincidence though, that one of Sass & Bide's current dress designs, retailing for $590, inspired my own $2 tablecloth dress!
