Introducing Refashion Co-op

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

The closure of iconic blog Wardrobe Refashion, bought much sadness, but respect for its founder Nichola Prested.

Wardrobe Refashion encouraged people (such as I) to sign up and pledge not to buy new clothes, but instead to repair, re-purpose and recycle clothes you already own or ones other people have discarded.

Wardrobe Refashion bought the attention of refashioning to a much wider audience, which soon became a movement in which hundreds of contributors began rescuing old clothes from landfill, whether from their own, friends or family's wardrobes, and thrift finds, which were then transformed into 'new' garments, and shared with the blogging community.

When Wardrobe Refashion closed down, we were all sad to see the iconic blog end it's run, and so a new project was set up to keep the online refashion community alive. I am pleased to announce a new exciting refashion community blog; Refashion Co-op. Myself, along with 6 other editors Bryony, Debbie, Eddie, Jenni, Jessica and Jillian bring to you a new collaboration, which came together around a shared love for refashioning, or making over old garments into new garments and accessories, creating a space dedicated to refashioning.

Refashion Co-op needs you! Do you refashion clothing? Would you like share your reworked garments with our community? We are looking for contributors! To find out more, you can sign up here. We can also be found on facebook and twitter.

Big thanks to Eddie for finally making this possible.
