Grey and Yellow

Friday, January 7, 2011

My first recycled fashion purchase of 2011 is a pair of vintage Kurt Geiger t-bar heels. $8 from Vinnies in Edithvale. The colour is unusual; yellow, but oh the shooooes! Yummy!

Yellow can be a difficult colour to match. I had an idea of a grey outfit, to match my yellow shoes. In my head, this colour combination works. I have been researching grey + yellow, and found a few examples where the two colours compliment each other well:

Mother nature likes yellow and grey too!

And finally, here are two of my own yellow and grey thrifty outfits:

Outfit no.1

Top: Which I made from a dragonfly print pillowcase and lace last year
Skirt: Barkins from Salvos
Shoes: Vinnies
Outfit no.2

Top: Next, bought in UK, from a factory seconds shop
Skirt: Barkins from Salvos
Shoes: Vinnies

In true 'Colour My Week' style, I have challenged another thrifty fashion blogger PJ over at Cool By Association to wear a grey and yellow outfit on Monday, so check out her blog to see her outfit!

PJ completed her challenge, and didn't she do well? She looks great in grey and yellow:

PJ wears:

vintage Sussan pussy bow blouse,
pinstripe pants - Kmart,
Zensu pointy flats - op shop,
vintage animal print headscarf, yellow bangle - Cosmetics Plus

Has anyone else tried wearing a grey and yellow combination before?

Oh and before I forget, here is another little find I bought from Family Life Op Shop; a gorgeous little biscuit tin for just $1, isn't it the cutest?

I LOVE yellow! Santa brought me two pairs of yellow shoes for Christmas.... not very eco, but..DAMN - they are beautiful.

haha, nice work! Will you blog about them? I am 'warming' to the colour yellow too now!

Yellow shoes go with everything!
I've worn them with an earthy green, of course fabulous with grey and white. Can be adorable with the right shade of pink too.
Given the tone of the shoes you picked up, I think you'd be hard pressed to find something that didn't work out (except maybe black..)

How sweet are those shoes!! They remind me of a pair my grandmother had... That's a compliment btw. I don't have anything yellow but i have been embracing orange!! Hehe...

Love it! Yellow is my husband's favorite color so we added it to our wedding colors-it holds a soft spot for me now too :)

Yellow is one of my favorite but you are right, difficult when it is the bottom color, as in shoes. You have done a wonderful job of making it all come together.

Oh my...I am in love with both your new t-straps and the biscuit tin. So adorable. I can't wait yellow. But, I think yellow and grey look so pretty together on others. My sister just did re-did her room in yellow and grey and it is fabulous.
Make a wish!
