Glad Rags: The Story of Vintage and Sustainable Fashion Documentary

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Two filmmakers have recently set off on an exciting overland adventure across the U.S. during the month of August to unravel and document the story of vintage and sustainable fashion.

On route from the West Coast to the East Coast, Brianne and Vallerie (The Glad Gals) will be interviewing shop owners, experts in textiles, lovers, wearers and bloggers of vintage, to produce Glad Rags: The Story of Vintage and Sustainable Fashion Documentary.

The Glad Gals started with a kickstarter funding initiative, which unfortunately did not reach its planned monetary goal in time, but this has not stopped the passionate duo, set to continue with their epic adventure into the world of sustainable fashion across the US.  Their plan is to build their Glad Gang of vintage and textile connoisseurs to demonstrate to the masses how easy it is to travel, thrift and shop with a go-green initiative.

The kickstarter video:

The Glad Rags Documentary will be produced as a series of short episodes (8-12 minutes each), released on the web as a multi-part documentary filmed across the U.S.

"Our mission is to shed light on the underground industry that is vintage and the history of the textile industry that created it.  We will illustrate how easy it is to become a part of the sustainable fashion movement while reducing your carbon footprint, and look good doing it!" Brianne and Vallerie, Glad Rags Doc

Anyone with an interest in vintage and sustainable fashion, that would like to follow the Glad Gals can do so on Facebook, Twitter or follow the story on Tumblr and Instagram.  If you'd like to be interviewed during the road trip yourself, you can email the Glad Gals.

Good luck Brianna and Vallerie, I look forward to following your adventure!

As a side note, I'd also like to thank the lovely Glad Gals for interviewing me for their 'in the dressing room' website feature seen here.
