The first chance I did get to attend a clothing swap, happened to be an organised event called The Clothing Exchange in Melbourne’s CBD.
The Clothing Exchange offers regular clothes swapping events around Australia. Patrons bring the garments they value but no longer wear to swap for those they will.
Garments and accessories are screened on entry into the venue, and patrons are given a buttons as currency for each item accepted (maximum 6).
There is a short seated wait whilst clothes and accessories are carefully displayed, and once the approval is given to start swapping, buttons can be exchanged for required pieces on a one-for-one basis.
A short demonstration video can be seen here, c/o Aleisha McCormack from Love Local Fashion.
Surprisingly, it has been almost three years since that swap. It is high time I revisited The Clothing Exchange, and that is what I will be doing next Monday evening at the next event scheduled for Melbourne.
Melbourne readers, if you would like to join in the swapping fun, further details are:
