Up and Coming Workshops

Short workshops are a great way to learn a new skill without the need to go to TAFE or University. There are many places you can go to learn a new skill, technique, or hobby, taught by individuals that are more than happy to teach their chosen craft or profession to others.

As some of you already know, occasionally I teach recycled craft workshops in and around Melbourne, sometimes offering pop up classes by request.  I recently taught a recycled craft class to a class of Year 9's at a Melbourne based school. They were in their final week of a sustainability unit.  This particular class taught students how to weave bracelets out of chip packets, and bracelets out of magazines.  Isn't it great that schools are embracing sustainability subjects?

I have another workshop coming up on Sunday 9th June at The Colour Box Studio in Footscray, it will be a 3 hour workshop, making cereal box beads and recycled newspaper bowls.  More details can be found here.  There are some other great workshops on offer at The Colour Box Studio that you can read about here.

If you're interested in attending a Melbourne based refashioning workshop, Leeyong Soo will be teaching a refashioning workshop at The Light Factory on Saturday 20th July, more details can be found here.

I understand there is a worldwide audience that read Recycled Fashion, therefore Melbourne based workshops would not apply.  Keep an eye out for activities going on in your own town via 'what's on' guides, local newspapers, or notices in shop windows.  Do check out your local community centre, often offering affordable classes on a variety of different topics.
