Double Denim and Arm Gloves

Friday, August 31, 2012

Some might say wearing double denim is a crime, I say codswallop.

My humble opinion on double denim?  Denim shirts or jackets and jeans worn with a dash of colour, or an outfit mixed with light and dark denims, can actually look quite stylish.

On a separate note, arm gloves; useful for wearing with short sleeve jackets, shirts, or dresses on chilly early Spring day mornings:

These arm gloves were purchased retail, many, many years ago, but they could be easily replicated using the sleeves of an old sweatshirt or jumper.  It would be a case of sewing raw edges of the removed sleeves, and adding a hole on each glove for your thumb to go through.

What are your thoughts on double denim, or arm gloves for that matter?

I think double denim can be very chic, as you have proven here! It got a bad reputation in the acid-wash, high waisted days, I think : )

I have ALWAYS wished I could pull of double denim. I think the old adage of it's a "no no" is way out of date. Unfortunately it's just not something I'm able to make look fashionable. I've tried, oh how I've tried! But you, Erica, look fab!!!

I'm down with double denim! My lack of double denim outfits has more to do with being unable to find denim jackets or tops that I love, than not liking the aesthetic, lol.

I'm a huge fan of arm gloves. Especially nice to wear with ponchos to keep the arms warm.

I've never doubled up on my denim but I really do love the way you shortened the sleeves on your jacket. It's really cute like that!

Absolutely nothing wrong with double denim, provided the denims are not the same colour/weight (like your pic of Cameron Diaz).

In Texas, we were double denim alot...in fact, down here, we can't get enough. But I do not see me trying arm gloves, but you never know!! I love your blouse...it really adds to the look!

Cool, now I know how to do double denim effectively. And I need to make some of those gloves. Autumn is headed this way at a full gallop!

The last time I wore double denim was in the late 70's. But my outfit didn't look like the ones above. :-)

Love denim, double or single. I have never seen arm gloves. They must be here in the US, but probably in the north. Making one out of a long sleeve jumper/sweater is a great idea. Might try that.

I like double denim, as long as they are different shades/colours.. otherwise it's a bit too '80s tastic! You look lovely though :)
