I didn't know much about The Artist other than it being a silent movie, nor had I seen the trailer. I was suprisingly captivated by its beauty in so many ways; the actors, the costumes, the gorgeous little dog, the story, and little snippets of tap dancing.
Without giving too much away, The Artist is set during the Twilight of Hollywood's silent era, shot on location in Los Angeles. The story follows a charismatic movie star, coming to terms with the end of an era in black and white silent movies, as silent movie actors are replaced by 'fresh blood', with the introduction of talking movies.
Before you question how one could possibly enjoy a movie without sound, fear not, as music, gesture and expression, replace words in an imaginable, enjoyably way. Who knew a film could be so enjoyable, without talking?

Bérénice Bejo plays the female lead Peppy Miller. She is strikingly beautiful and fits into the era fabulously, wearing the most stunning costumes representing the 1920's/early 30's. I loved her collection of cloche (bell shape) hat's
Then there's dashing George (played by Jean Dujardin) with his slick hair, arched eyebrow, and whisper thin 'tash!
This movie is for dog lovers too, as Jack Russell Uggie plays a lead part in the movie, he is adorable.
