Chicken Hill Recycled T-shirt Childrens Hat

Sunday, March 11, 2012

Chicken Hill offers easy-to-sew PDF sewing patterns, which incorporate repurposed, upcycled, and/or recycled materials ( and y'all know we love that at Recycled Fashion )

I purchased Chicken Hill's children's PDF hat pattern and tutorial, to be made using recycled t-shirts.

Work in progress, I used three different damaged t-shirts ...

Using jersey fabric means the hat is perfect for slightly cooler autumnal weather, but for the middle of winter, the addition of a fleece lining might be suggested. I eliminated ear covers for my version :)

Jnr RF loves his recycled hat

Chicken Hill also offers the amazing scrap fabric wings/cape PDF sewing pattern and tutorial...

And more little girls dress patterns here

Have you used old t-shirts to make into something else other than another tee? Feel free to provide a link to a blog post below if so.

Hi Erica, the hats are fantastic, you could really go wild with colour combinations! And those wings!! So fun!
I'm linking up one of my tee upcycles, it's a tee to tote (with a tutorial): http://joyfoolery.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/babushka-lady-tote.html

this is so adorable, what a great way to upcycle t-shirts. I am already thinking of other options like a bag. Thanks for sharing!

I did the same thing. I made two hats from old shirts for my son and my girl. :) I love it! :)
