DIY Tie-Dye Wrap Blouse

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Let me begin with credit where credit is due. I found a simple DIY wrap blouse tutorial by Whitney, who blogs at freshlygiven

Based on a vintage advert for "wrapped cloth" in the LIFE Archives, Whitney created her own DIY wrap blouse from her grandmothers old skirt..

Whitney's version

Gorgeous, yes?

And here, is my version

Tie at the back

I used a piece of tie-dyed fabric purchased from Vinnies op shop ($4), which interestingly, came with instructions on wall hanging ideas!

Love them both, look completely different but still so simple and fresh, and one refashion that could easily be adapted for maternity (i.e. me actually being able to refashion something I can wear now)
Definitely on my to do list. Thanks Erica x

I wonder, how do you think this pattern would do in something a little more drapey, or stretch...i like the look of it more structured, but i think it would be great in a knit...thoughts?
