GinaMichele DIY Fashion

Monday, September 19, 2011

Please may I introduce you to Gina Michele. Gina believes "that fashion should be fun, as well as wearable". This NY based designer, sells a collection of eco-friendly clothing and accessories using a combination of recycled and organic, sustainable textiles. Her collection can be seen here.

Additionally, however, Gina blogs on her site Crochet Clouds where she creates DIY fashion projects with easy to follow instructions for her readers. Such projects include:

DIY Free People inspired turban
Gina's version (image underneath) is made from mens neckties

DIY double t-shirt dress
Made from two mens t-shirts stitched together, pockets made from arm sleeves

DIY Ann Demeulemeester leather belt
Made from a wide leather belt and strip of leather from a thrift store and a buckle

Gina proves to us that you really don't need to spend a fortune to remake what is currently in on the fashion scene. Gina also chooses thrift fabric over new, and we gotta love that!

You can find Gina's blog CrochetClouds here and shop for ethical designs here.

LOVE this! And love how she has shown that a designer Free People turban REALLY only costs $5. Again me ranting on the idiocy of designer gear.
