Yellow

Sunday, July 10, 2011

Holy daffodils readers, yellow becomes the (lemon) flavour of the month, which certainly brightens an otherwise cold, dull winter day here in Melbourne. Although not a colour of personal choice, the right shade of yellow can work well on a suitable skin tone.

I will however, be showing you the yellow card if you trot off to the high street in search of lemon dresses, for there is an abundance of second-hand, vintage, and handmade canary goodness available for purchase at the click of a mouse button.

I like colour, and yellow in theory, and these are all pretty dresses. However, I've yet to find anything yellow that suits me! I don't think there's any in my wardrobe at all...hmmm.

Yellow is a colour that needs to match your skin tone. Working in a fabric store i always find darker skin tones suit it best and fairer skin tones need to find a yellow that works for them. It's a difficult colour and usually looks best away from the face.
I have a few mustard yellow tops which i put together with blues or greys but i don't think i could get away with an all over yellow dress.

yellow is a bright and sunny color, love it. But the only yellow i have is a top. Don't see a lot of yellow clothes around at the thrift stores though.

I love the pizazz and fun of yellow but just can't find a shade to suit yet. Maybe a rich, sunny one?

@Don apologies, I should have reworded this blog post to say would you wear a yellow garment so as not to be gender specific! However, glad to hear your mustard vintage shirts receives compliments

Love the pictures you chose here, but somehow am still terrified of yellow. Purple also frightens me...

I LOVE yellow! I've got a rad shirt made from a piece of 50s fabric - yellow roses, a cute dress in dotted cotton that I got for two bucks the other day (just needs taking in). a beautiful organic cotton mustard scarf and two pairs of yellow shoes. I dream of a yellow satchel. Goodness - I have never thought about how it suits me really - I just love to wear it.
