Recycled Fashion Finds #4

Friday, July 1, 2011

Isn't it great when you find exactly what you are looking for when you are thrift shopping? My son is attending his very first fancy dress party next week. At 2 1/2 it seems ridiculous to go out and buy a brand new outfit for just one day. He loves his face painted as a tiger "rah!" so I went in search of an outfit to dress him as a complete tiger.

I knew Savers would be a safe bet to find an orange long sleeve top and trousers. The intention was to use fabric paint to paint tiger stripes, but instead, I found this great fabric in Vinnies for $2 with various animalia patterns throughout. I've cut tiger stripes out of the fabric and stitched in panels onto the orange garments.

Any thoughts on how I might be able to replicate a tiger tail readers? Would a long orange sock do the trick?!

And you dear readers? What did you find or create? Would you like to share:
  • A second-hand fashion garment you found at a market, thrift store, op shop, charity shop, car boot sale, fete, or garage sale.
  • A fabulous recycled fashion find you scored online.
  • A refashion project
  • A hand-me-down
  • A garment you've made yourself
  • It could be a link to a clothing item you are selling on your online store
  • A sewing pattern, or fabric you've found which you intend to make into a fashion garment
  • Your clothing item need not be vintage, although we do love a good vintage find of course.
*You can share your finds and creations on the link up below.*

Love the tiger outfit! I think an orange sock would be perfect and if it was one you didn't want to use again could paint stripes on it!

oh I saw the perfect thing for a tail, at an oppy too but it had just sold. Long stem 'plush' flowers.. the stem islong, soft and bendy. Maybe look out for one and keep it stored for 'next time'

Brilliant idea isn't it? Recycled fashion I'm amaze with this idea of fashion, the art is there, not just that you can save money instead of buying new one, just go to your cabinet and find clothes then recycle it!
