My most treasured vintage find

JessVanDen asks her twitter followers:

"What is your most treasured Vintage find?"

My answer:

A pair of vintage Brazilian tan leather ankle boots

Vintage Boots

9 years ago, while in Sydney visiting friends, I bought some boots. Not just any old boots. My tan leather ankle boots are vintage 1960’s, made in Brazil, and I have to say are quite lovely. I wore them 9 years ago, they were of course fashionable in the 60’s, and I could still wear them today if my feet could handle their height! These days my boots sit pretty in my wardrobe, but I’d never part with them.

I bought them from Paddington Market in Oxford Street, Sydney. A popular market, which starts 10am every Saturday. Absolutely worth a mention and a visit (although not to be confused with Paddy’s Market as the two are very different). Most products sold at the market are not second hand, but more focused on Australian goods and emerging Australian designers. However, in amongst this you may find a few vintage second hand clothes stalls, of which I found my beloved boots.

My most treasured vintage find was a short 1940's black cape that I found in a church tag sale. It had a stand up collar and side pockets outlined in white piping - very distinctive looking. That's the piece that started my love affair with capes. I own them in all sorts of fabric, lengths and colors.

Wow, your 1940's cape sounds amazing. Funny how one find can start a collection.
