With an elasticated waistline, she fit so well, except for her nasty sleeve elastic - far too tight, and very uncomfortable. Gone are the days where I bid farewell to an outfit from an op-shop because it does not fit, I knew I could sort out her sleeves somehow.
Firstly, I unpicked those sleeves and ditched them, replacing with my own DIY sleeves, made with fabric from my stash, using alternative fabric inside for a different look.

Hem & Haw dress does not have any pockets. This is fine, but really, a Mum needs at least one pocket..to dump the car keys in whilst getting sprout in and out the car, or mobile phone whilst running around the park, that kind of thing. Inspired by clever crafter and blogger Wipster and her doily pocket that's exactly what I've included on Hem & Haw dress. A pocket made from an embroidered doily I purchased from the op shop for 70c:

Ok so its a little bit "Little House on the Prairie" ....

Now that I LOVE. So very cute. Can't wait to get to the opshops now I am home. Wooohooo.
love it. the sleeve touch and the doily pocket make it such a lovely revamp. go you!
it's cute. Can I send you all my illfitting op shop purchases to fix?! Pretty please?!
Very pretty & totally individual. I agree with you about pockets...the necessity (& luxury) of "hands free"
Looks really great! Way to go, love the re-use/upcycling of items!
Fantastic, love it.
Adorable! And perfect on you!
This is seriously cute! Love the pocket and new sleeves :)
Haha. It's adorable even if it leans towards being Little House on the Prairie. That's decent show, I used to watch it with my Grandma. Good memories. :D
This might be my favorite thing you have made so far-it's stunning!
PS GOT YOUR POSTCARD! YAY!

Hi Erica
Thanks for your comment on my blog - I don't know how I've missed yours until now! Wow! You do some really amazing stuff!
I only jumped on the sewing bandwagon late last year, so I'll be taking much inspiration from your projects. ;)
