Baggy trousers to pantaloons

Thursday, December 2, 2010

A pair of Cue trousers (pants), found on the reduced rack in Cheltenham Family Life Op Shop for $1. Fit great around the waist, but look how ridiculous they look from the calf down.. this is a common problem being that I am not blessed with height...

Who said beige is boring?

Melbourne is now offically in summer, so I thought it might be good to chop, chop, chop right off to the knee. But what to do with the bottom hem line of each leg? Instead of a simple boring old straight line, I decided to go with a drawstring tie on each leg, using some lace I purchased from my local op shop for another break-the-bank $1.

It wasn't my intention to for the trousers to look like pantaloons, but thats how they turned out...

Not quite as glamourous as these...

But they didnt turn out too badly, for a total of $2..

Note to self .. must take better photos

Tie close up!

By the way, if anyone is interested to see how my Bambi coasters turned out, I've blogged about it on Recycled Sewing here is a sneak preview..

Psst. ..come and join me on the last Melbourne Op Shop Tour of the year on Saturday 11th December, and do your Christmas shopping the sustainable way!

$2 for stylish pantaloons! wow, you have definitely done a great job there. I have a few things I've bought at op shops to alter but have yet to get time to spend doing it.. soon it will be summer holidays though so hopefully it'll be a productive one!

Doctor Knickerbocker, knickerbocker, number nine .... http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/d103.html ... These look like knickerbockers I had in blue cord which I wore to Sydney's Luna Park when I was about 10! Very nice!

Ok, so I have been given lots of beautiful fabric/clothes and I am thinking of redesigning and creating something very different to my usual 'look' and thought you might be interested in a wee project..let's chat...
