Ties for Little People

Saturday, November 13, 2010

The little necktie owls I have been making from thrifted mens ties are great, but I've been left with a lot of redundant necktie fabric, what am I going to do with it?

Here is one little project for Junior RF; a plain white bonds t-shirt, a hand-me-down from a cousin, refashioned with a mini tie, machine stitched into place..

:: Too Cool for School ::

Now I'd already cut off the pointy bit from the tie for my necktie owls, so that leaves the remaining fabric. I therefore had to create a new 'point', and added a pretend knot. I used an iron to get the shape I wanted, hand stitched on the rear of the tie to hold in place, and then machine stitched onto the t-shirt.

Work In Progress:

:: Iron, iron, iron ::Before

After

:: Attracting the birds! ::

I really like how this t-shirt turned out, so I'm making some as Christmas gifts for friends kids.
