Beat the Monday Blues - Colour My Week with Green

Monday, October 18, 2010

We've all been there, we've had a top weekend, filled with family, fun, festivities and fabulousness, and then bam - its gone, Monday morning arrives, the alarm goes off, its time to drag yourself out of bed, and head back to work. Boo!

According to, number two on the list of '20 Ways to Beat Monday Blues' is...

2. Wear your best clothes or the cheeriest colour from your wardrobe. You’d be surprise how much your clothes could affect the way you feel about yourself.

This has given me an idea, from this week forth I shall dedicate every Monday's blog post to 'Colour My Week'. I will focus each Monday's post on one colour, I will show various recycled fashion items I have found with that colour, and invite other readers to share their colour finds to the blog, by the way of a linky link McLinky.

The first 'Colour My Week' colour, is green.

Green is ...nature, environment, Ireland, leaves, grasshoppers, reusable grocery bags, emerald and jade...

My weekly green finds are:

Desert Boots from my own wardrobe

Khaki Desert Boots from my wardrobe which I technically got for 'free'

Mint green SABA

Saba Mint Green Sequin Cardigan for sale $30 (RRP $125) through Miss Moneypenny

Recycled Green Paper Bead Necklace

Recycled Paper Beads, made in Uganda, $65 from AfriBeads

Vintage Mint Green & White MuiMui

Vintage Green/White MiuiMui Dress $19 from Ahka Vintage on eBay

Reclaimed painted art skirt

'Quiet little rebel' wearable art skirt in teal $105 by Marian Smale on

Handmade Vintage Fabric Leg Warmers

Tutorial on how to make these is available on laupre blog

What green coloured fashion items have you found recently? Do you have an aqua vintage dress in your wardrobe? Have you been eyeing up a jade coloured upcycled bag on etsy? Perhaps you are making a piece of jewellery from recycled green glass bottles? Add your link below, lets brighten this week with a splash of green! Linky link McLinky will close in a week from now.

This is an absolutely brilliant idea because I am going to rummage through the wardrobe and drag out a " green " in whatever form it may appear and endeavour to include it in my weekly attire. Failing that dear Erica, I shall have to just go out and buy something green!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that is that!!!
