It is a nice op shop; spacious, easy to manouver around which is especially useful with a stroller and a toddler!, and has background music playing (nothing like a bit of Bob Marley and The Wailers to shop along to). I spotted this top by Lucky Brand with beautiful bird printed fabric:
Usually however, I would have disregarded a top like this, because it is not my size. For $6 I thought it would be worth buying with the intention to alter and make it fit. I found some burgundy bias binding from Vinnies in Cranbourne on Tuesday, which is a good colour to match the Lucky Brand top fabric.

I'm really liking this top for summer, it is very light and cool.

nice, great fabric, enough left over to make me one?
I have enough to make you a belt ;) x
Excellent refashion!
I live in Darwin now. But that Grey Street Op Shop was my favourite in Melbourne when i lived there!!!
Lots of designer items as celebrities gave there as well as the St Kilda Oldies. I found amazing 1950's vintage dresses and modern Gucci ties and shoes too.
I purchased a great black modular couch for 20$ + $20 delivery. When I left Melbourne it sold on Ebay for $120. I also purchased a real Leopard fur coat there from the... (30's)? And old collectable photographic cameras for my partner.
I'm so jealous. Nothing too exciting here in Darwin :-( I love the fabric on your top. It's exquisite.
Great print! Its always the fabric that catches my eye when I am op shopping. I started op shopping as I made my own clothes and new fabrics are so expensive! Refashioning makes so much sense!
Sounds like a great op shop too-great finds chaosgirl!
Wow - that looks great on you now! Nice to find something for yourself - especially when you have the munchkins in tow. Great that you can see past the size and realise the fabrics potential - hats off to you!
Wow chaos girl, I am impressed by your vintage finds at the same op shop, I will definitely be going back! Thanks for the nice comments everyone x
great work, the fabric is fabulous!
wonderful piece of resizing ... it looks gorgeous.

Beautiful Fabric indeed!! Great work!!
I really need to learn how to use a sewing machine! Don't think our Home Economics sewing lessons were sufficient. :(
