Thrift loving celebrities

Would we ever see Victoria Beckham sifting through garments in a Californian thrift store? Doubtful. Would we ever see Sir Elton rummaging amongst musty clothing racks in his local Windsor charity shop? Probably not. When copious amounts of money can buy new Chanel, Gucci, Prada and Tiffany, it would be assumed wealthy celebrities would steer well clear of shops of the charitable nature. There are however, celebs that do shop second hand.

A few weeks ago my Mum emailed an article to me from UK’s Daily Mail newspaper weekend magazine supplement; an interview with Daryl Hannah “I get ‘new’ clothes from other peoples hand-me-downs and I can find anything I ever want in thrift shops” Daryl tells You Magazine.

In Melbourne Kylie Minogue has been known to thrift. In Mecwa op shop in Wattletree Road, Malvern, Kylie walked out with a necklace made out of a broken bracelet with chunky blue glass beads and a silver chain, she bought it for $20.

Zac Efron of The High School Musical fame revealed that he hit the thrift stores on the hunt for the perfect prom night vintage tux. "I had the brilliant idea of wearing a vintage tuxedo, I was determined to find one so I went to Goodwill," Zac tells Entertainmentwise

Do celebrities thrift shop to be good to the environment? Or is it because op shopping cool? We know it’s not to save money!

I think people and celebrities alike are flocking to the op shops because vintage has become cool. Celebrities are trying to stand out from their peers in one off vintage wears and send a green message at the same time; are they cashing in on popularity, maybe or am I just being cynical?

If you have time I have sent you a challenge
