From jeans to bag

Last year I bought a pair of 3/4 Sportsgirl jeans from an op shop for $3. I wore them a few times in the summer, but they were not really my style. I think I chose them for the bright yellow stitching rather than the actual jeans.



For my first sewing project I decided to rework these jeans into a bag. Here is the journey of the jeans bag:

I cut the front and back pockets of jeans into rectangle shapes, and long strips from the legs to make the shoulder/hand strap.

I used a sheet bought in an op shop for 50c as the inside lining, and cut long strips for the underside material of the strap.



A big bag of buttons from my sewing box resulted in pretty decorations for the 'front' pocket of the jeans bag.



After two days of machine and hand stitching, here is my bag, I am pretty pleased with it considering its my first ever upcycled project:
