Wednesday, June 9, 2010

I'm on a bit of a vintage recycled fashion roll at the moment, so imagine my excitement when finding an advetisement today for The Way We Wear Vintage Fairs. with Melbourne's Williamstown fair held next weekend!

The Way We Wear Fairs is held in six Australian cities in 2010; Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane and The Gold Coast.

"The Way We Wear Fairs began in Melbourne in 2006 and are now eagerly awaited twice a year in six cities (Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast). A special exhibition is staged in conjunction with each one, giving fairgoers the opportunity to see some of the rarest fashion pieces in Australia close up. The Melbourne Fair happens each year in June and November.

Antique, retro, vintage and designer label clothing, fashion accessories, millinery, jewellery, boudoir items, fashion art, linen and lace, button and bows and so much more.

The Way We Wear Fairs are truly fashionable events, providing a feast of collectable and wearable clothing from 1800 to 1970s and later designer wear."

Who is the guy in the second shot, I took a photo of him during a fashion show at Chadstone a few months ago but have no idea who he is?

Hey there,
I've just found your blog and love it already!
Any tips on where to buy vintage wedding gowns around the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Melbourne??
Will definitely look at the fair when it comes to the Gold Coast (and again when I'm in Melbourne in November) but am keen to find something from the 50's for my wedding in February next year.

Thanks for dropping by!

There are always vintage fairs and markets that seem to be popping up around the country, I'll be sure to post any more that I find.

In the meantime, have you tried looking on etsy's online store? I just tapped in 'vintage wedding dress' into Etsy which brings up 1,239 results! Here is a link to the search result on Etsy:

Most dresses are from the USA but I'm sure they would ship internationally. I guess the only problem buying online - you cant try it before you buy it :)
