Frugal mother

Sunday, May 23, 2010

I’ve recently entered a whole new genre of fashion; children’s wear. On one of my previous posts I’d mentioned the phenomenal cost of buying new garments for our little people. Honestly, some new clothing items are at a comparable cost to adults. Call me a frugal mother, but I just cannot justify spending over $20 on one item of children’s clothing, particularly the speed in which they grow out of their outfits.

Last weekend when out for our usual Sunday breakfast, a stranger complimented my son’s outfit, which I found quite flattering, and took particular pride in knowing the whole ensemble was purchased for under $10 from three second hand markets, so I thought I’d share it:

*Short sleeve shirt by Cotton on Vintage Kids $2 – Trash & Treasure market, Bentleigh
*Blue long sleeve t-shirt by Higgledee $1 – Chelsea Pre-loved childrens market
*Check shorts by Baby world $2 – Trash & Treasure market, Bentleigh
*Unworn sandals $2 – Trash & Treasure market, Cheltenham

TOTAL $6. Bargain.
